Casals pas au violoncelle, à la gloire de la Catalogne (sortez vos mouchoirs)

et Segovia joue le prélude de la 1ère Suite de Bach dont on pourrait à mon avis s'inspirer un peu pour la jouer sur nos violoncelles avec autant de sensibilité.

Pour la première video, c'était le 24/10/1971, lorsqu'il a reçu la médaille de la paix. C'est très Emouvant. Pour ceux qui ne comprennent pas l'anglais parlé, voici le discours entier, que j'ai récupéré sur le web. Par contre, dans la video, on n'entends pas "All the authorities of Catalonia in the Eleventh Century met in a city of France, at that time Catalonia, to speak about peace, at the Eleventh Century.", mais "met in Pau"...

This is the greatest honour of my life. Peace has always been my greatest concern. I learnt to love it when I was but a child. When I was a boy, my mother —an exceptional, marvellous woman—, would talk to me about peace, because at that time there were also many wars. What is more, I am a Catalan. Today, a province of Spain. But what has been Catalonia? Catalonia has been the greatest nation in the world. I will tell you why. Catalonia has had the first parliament, much before England. Catalonia had the first United Nations. All the authorities of Catalonia in the Eleventh Century met in a city of France, at that time Catalonia, to speak about peace, at the Eleventh Century. Peace in the world and against, against, against war, the inhumanity of the wars. So I am so happy, so happy, to be with you today. That is why the United Nations, which works solely towards the peace ideal, is in my heart, because anything to do with peace goes straight to my heart. I have not played the cello in public for many years, but I feel that the time has come to play again. I am going to play a melody from Catalan folklore: El cant dels ocells. C'est dommage que la video ait été coupée avant qu'il ne joue en public. On la trouvera surement .

D'ailleurs si vous allez directement sur le lien que Fany a donné, Youtube etc.., et que vous faites une recherche "cello" ou Casals, ou autre.. vous trouverez d'autres videos de violoncellistes.

Il y en a une d'un certain Neikrug (élève de Feuermann) qui joue une cadence d'un concerto pour violon de Paganini au violoncelle, qui est pas mal non plus...

et une de Aner Bylsma dans Bach.

Un petit post pour faire remonter dans les sujets la video de Casals qui reçoit la médaille de la paix à l'UNESCO;
